Like many Lake Tahoe ski resorts, Homewood Mountain Resort wouldn’t mind pushing the replay button to replicate last year’s ski season.
Homewood is gearing up for the upcoming 2016-17 winter season by offering good value on season passes, the return of snowcat accessed backcountry skiing and riding, complimentary daily s’mores, and new food and beverage offerings at West Shore Café.
Located on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe, Homewood Mountain Resort has been offering families a winter experience since 1961.
“Homewood Mountain Resort continues to be one of the best places to ski or snowboard on storm days thanks to its wind-protected slopes. In fact, during the 2015-16 season, the chairlifts were never closed due to wind hold,” said Kevin Mitchell, general manager of Homewood Mountain Resort. “Our team looks forward to welcoming skiers and riders back to Homewood, and to offering them a memorable, family-friendly mountain experience.”
Season passes: Homewood offers season passes, featuring unrestricted access and no blackout dates. For those who haven’t yet purchased their 2016-17 season pass, adult passes are available for $589 (ages 19-61), senior passes for $389 (ages 62-69), teen passes for $509 (ages 13-18), and child passes for $219 (ages 5-12). College passes, super senior and family passes are also available.
For a limited time, lift ticket 3-Packs are also available for advance purchase for $59 per day. These non-transferrable lift tickets can be used by one person any three days of the 2016-17 season with no blackouts. Homewood also offers the best value on daily lift tickets, with prices starting as low as $49 when purchased online in advance.
Homewood Snowcat Adventures Returns: Following the successful launch of Homewood Snowcat Adventures during the last half of the 2015-16 winter season, the resort will again offer snowcat accessed backcountry skiing and riding during this season. Groups of up to 10 advanced level skiers and riders can enjoy guided access to over 750 acres of tree runs, steeps, glades, backcountry bowls and fresh snow.
All day packages include lift access at Homewood, the snowcat tour, backcountry gear and professional instruction related to mountain safety practices. A boxed lunch is also included, and guests can upgrade their meal to options catered by West Shore Café.
End the Day at West Shore Café: After a day on the slopes, end the day at West Shore Cafe with complimentary s’mores and seasonal specialty cocktails including the West Shore Toddy. S’mores making ingredients will be available on a first-come, first-served basis from 4-4:30 p.m. on the restaurant’s lakeside deck, with other après ski specials beginning at 3 p.m. daily.
For those who want a lakefront dining experience, West Shore Café’s seasonal menu features fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, a Wine Spectator award-winning wine list, craft cocktails and stunning views of Lake Tahoe.
During the winter, and beginning November 25, the restaurant will be open for lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and for dinner from 5 -9 p.m. Reservations are recommended for lunch and dinner service. Dining guests are encouraged to check the restaurant’s website prior to visiting as the restaurant is occasionally closed for private events.
Ben Deinken is the new executive chef of the elegant, yet casual lakefront restaurant. Deinken will oversee all restaurant culinary activities, including lunch and dinner service, in-room dining and West Shore Café’s extensive banquet and catering offerings. Prior to joining West Shore Café, Deinken served as the Executive Chef and owner of Tournant Pop Up since 2013.
