Cyclists of various ages and skill levels will converge on Lake Tahoe later this month for the 2015 USA Cycling Amateur Road National Championships.
North Lake Tahoe will host the nation’s top amateur and junior cyclists at the 2015 USA Cycling Amateur Road National Championships June 24-28.
The race is five consecutive days set to begin on June 24, consisting of three separate and distinct courses and distances.
The nine to 14 age category competes on a 5km course that loops around Serene Lakes, while the 15-18 age category race on a 70km course that starts in Loyalton and ends at Northstar California Resort.
The elite-amateur and U23 category races on a 167km loop that starts at Northstar California Resort and runs north on Highway 89. The time trial course is a variation of an out-and-back style format with 40km, 20km and 10km distances. All ages and categories will race on the same 1km criterium course in downtown Truckee.
There will be no shortage of talent in the U23 category. Many riders are racing to compete for the Team USA in selected European campaigns.
Riders to watch include:
- Greg Daniel (Englewood, CO/Axeon Cycling Team)earned the Most Courageous Rider’s jersey at Stage 4 at the Amgen Tour of California; reigning U23 national time trial champion
- J. Eisenhart (Lehi, UT/BMX Development Team) 10-time national cyclocross champion
- Logan Owen (Bremerton, WA/Axeon Cycling Team).
- Kelly Catlin (Arden Hills, MN/NorthStar Development); 2013 national time trial champion and third place road race finisher .
- Hannah Swan (Alpine, CA/Finish Strong Elite Cycling Team p/b Palmetto State Medical); and two-time reigning junior time trial champion and 2014 top-five Time Trial World Championships finisher
- Emma White (Delanson, NY/Hot Tubes Development Team)
