Getting to Mammoth Mountain ski resort just got easier. The resort, located in the Eastern Sierra range in California, will now have new United Airlines flight routes into Mammoth Lakes airport, via Denver and Las Vegas.
This is the first flight to Mammoth not originating in California, which makes it much easier for those in the Midwest and East to access Mammoth. Offered by United Airlines, the flight will run on Saturdays beginning Dec. 20, 2014.
“When looking at new markets for air service to Mammoth Lakes, Denver came up for a number of reasons,” said John Urdi, Executive Director of Mammoth Lakes Tourism. “MammothMountain has always been a bucket list resort for true skiers and riders, but access has been somewhat of a challenge.”
Denver is a hub for other key markets such as Chicago, and Newark, N.J.San Francisco is another United hub servicing Mammoth Lakes.
“With weekly service from Denver, not only do we connect to the East Coast, Midwest and South, but we add new international access as well,” Urdi added.
In other news at Mammoth:
- The Sierra Nevada Resort has added a new 2,500-square foot day spa – the largest in the town of Mammoth Lakes. Catering to guests looking for a massage and steam after a day in the mountains, the spa also features a juice bar, sauna and four spa treatment rooms.
- Anyone who has had the pleasure of making the short walk from the Mammoth gondola in the village to the Mammoth Brewing Company tasting room after a day on the slopes will tell you that it’s one of the best Apres options you’ll find. With a brand new tasting room open for winter 14-15, that’s not likely to change anytime soon.
- New to the Mammoth dining scene, Mammoth Tavern serves up delicious food, artfully crafted cocktails and plenty of ambiance in an elegantly and comfortably appointed dining room.
- Mammoth Rock ‘N’ Bowl opened in March with 12 lanes, three golf simulators and large selection of games and quickly became a destination for Mammoth visitors and locals. bowling a couple frames and take in the amazing views of the Sherwin peaks.
