Shaun White’s quest for an Olympic gold medal in slopestyle at the 2014 Winter Olympics just got a little better.
Norwegian snowboard slopestyle competitor, Torstein Horgmo, a 2014 Winter Olympic favorite, crashed Monday during a training session at the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park. The crash took place on the Olympic slopestyle course.
Torstein Horgmo is now officially out of the Olympics after breaking his collarbone.
White, who has trained the previous two years at Northstar California ski resort in Lake Tahoe, wants to add a slopestyle gold medal at Sochi to previous halfpipe gold medals at the Winter Olympics.
Serious crash ends Torstein Horgmo’s Olympic hopes
Horgmo, 26, is commonly referred to in the snowboard industry as the most progressive rider, and it was that push for progression that led him to a serious crash during practice.
For White, this may serve as a sign of hope as he looks to earn gold in both slopestyle and halfpipe where both fields are stacked with international talent.
