There’s a good chance skiers and snowboarders heading to a Lake Tahoe ski resort later this week will be singing White Christmas.
A cold system is likely to result in heavy snowfall to the Lake Tahoe region by Friday. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), snow levels will start out high and then drop Friday and Saturday as cooler air moves into the Sierra Nevada behind the weather front.
Some much-needed snow will drop at low levels, which didn’t happen in the recent storms that hit Northern California. Heavy snow is expected down to the 3,000-feet elevation level by Friday night. There could be as much as 2 feet of snow by Christmas day.
Light snow showers are predicted in the mountains for Sunday, Christmas day.
