Nestled in the north shore of Lake Tahoe, Northstar California provides family-friendly events throughout the summer months. Frequent visitors to Northstar might want to consider purchasing the Summer Fun Pass.
Kids and kids-at-heart can take advantage of fun activities in The Village at Northstar in the new all-inclusive Summer Fun Pass. For just $49 per person per day, the pass includes access to the roller skating rink, two rounds of miniature golf, one session on the bungee trampoline, one small bag to fill at the gem panning station, a trip up the climbing web and the rock wall, and a voucher for the $13 lift and lunch ticket which allows guest access to the hiking trails and lunch on the mountain.
Northstar is located on Highway 267, just six miles north of Lake Tahoe and six miles south of downtown Truckee.

From 5-8 p.m. each Friday in the summer, Friday Fun Nights includes a variety of complimentary and paid activities, including face painting, balloon twisting, corn hole, ladder ball, yoga, live music, a Margaritas & Mini Golf special, gem panning, and much more. Enjoy music from the 1970’s and 80’s at Retro Skate Nights on Fridays from 6-9 p.m. The guest with the best retro outfit will win a special prize.
Fourth of July: Northstar will host the annual July 4th Kid’s Bike Parade from noon to 3 p.m. Kids are invited to decorate their bikes, razors, big wheels, clothing, themselves, etc. in front of Mine from noon to 2 p.m.
The parade kicks off at 2 p.m. with Northstar Fire Department and CHP escorting kids around the Village, showing off their creativity and festive flair. A fire engine from Northstar Fire Department will be on-site for tours, as well as complementary face painting and balloon twisting.
Northstar Bike Park: For those looking to burn off steam from a long work week and maximize the weekend, Northstar’s Bike Park is open until 7 p.m. each Friday. The Pumps on Pedals Women’s Evening Mountain Bike Ride is held every Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. and invites ladies of all ages and ability levels to join in on the camaraderie, technique building and downhill mountain bike fun.
Another offering for mountain bike enthusiasts looking to unwind is Bikes and Brews outside the Big Springs Gondola and also offered exclusively on Fridays. Riders are welcomed to hang out from 5-7 p.m. sharing tales of the trail over Shocktop, a selection of wines, and light snacks including chicken bites.
Tahoe Star Tours: Finish off Friday night with the Tahoe Star Tours at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe from 8-10:30 p.m. where Star Guide Tony Berendsen will expand guests’ knowledge of the night sky above the Sierras, showcasing the cosmos through high powered Celestron telescopes in the relaxed atmosphere of the new mountainside viewing venue. Star Tours are $35 for adults and $20 for children ages 12 and under and guests are invited to participate in lawn games as they enjoy refreshments as well as BBQ items for purchase.
Northstar Beerfest & Bluegrass Festival: An annual event will take place in The Village at Northstar on Friday, July 3, from 3-6:30 p.m. The festival includes beer tastings from numerous breweries and live music from two premier bluegrass bands.
Breweries will be featured on The Village Overlook, and guests age 21 and over whom purchase a ticket will receive a commemorative pint glass and be able to sample all the different beers. There will also be non-alcoholic beverages and a tasty barbecue available for purchase, as well as seating and games on The Village skating rink. Advanced tickets are $30 and day-of tickets are $38.
Northstar Mountain Run: The event will take place on August 9, starting at the Village at Northstar and finishing at the top of the Tahoe Zephyr Express, a classic 10.6K run. Guests are invited to participate in this fun event where they can take in the breathtaking scenery as they challenge their physical grit.
