Both Squaw Valley ski resort and neighboring Alpine Meadows benefited greatly from Friday’s snow storm. And more is on the way today.
The winter storm sweeping through the Sierra on Friday brought 15 inches of fresh snow to Squaw Valley’s upper mountain and 10 inches of fresh snow to Alpine Meadows’ upper mountain, with snow continuing to fall in the upper elevations at both mountains.
It continued to snow lightly on Saturday, with Squaw Valley ski resort receiving 3 inches and Alpine Meadows getting 2 inches. Squaw now has a base of 18 inches at the bottom and 43 at the top, while Alpine’s range is 12-37 inches.
A second storm is forecast to move into the region today (Feb. 8), bringing more snowfall to the upper elevations. According to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), this storm could bring 18 additional inches of snow to Squaw Valley ski resort and Alpine Meadows before moving out of the region early Tuesday.
Squaw Valley ski resort is currently open with 19 lifts for skiing and riding, and Alpine Meadows is open with six lifts. In addition to skiing and riding, guests can enjoy live music at both mountains, as well as shopping and dining in The Village at Squaw Valley.
Skiers and riders looking to take full advantage of this season’s snowfall can purchase the Tahoe Super 4. The Tahoe Super 4 starts at $329 for adults, and offers four days of skiing and riding with absolutely no blackout dates across Squaw Valley ski resort Alpine Meadows’ 6,000 acres, 42 lifts and more than 270 trails. The Tahoe Super 4 offers a savings of up to $36 per day.
