Looking to improve your performance skills in Ironman competitions? Attending the Ironman Training Camp in Squaw Valley might be just the path to improve that overall performance.
As the West Coast’s official training destination for Ironman athletes, Squaw Valley is offering high-altitude training this summer with the inaugural Ironman Training Camp, taking place June 13-15. The three day camp, guided by six-time Ironman World Champion Dave Scott, will help Ironman athletes prepare for the grueling 140.6 mile triathlon that includes a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike race and 26.2 mile marathon.
While the training camp will be great practice for those competing in any Ironman race, the new camp is especially ideal for those who plan to participate in the Lake Tahoe Ironman on September 21, 2014. The Lake Tahoe Ironman is arguably the most challenging Ironman race in the world.
Not only are Lake Tahoe competitors racing at over 6,000 feet above sea level, they also must push through over 8,000 feet of climbing during the bike course, in addition to the regular swim and marathon race.
Included in the camp are three days of intense training for each discipline – swimming, biking and running – as well as classroom sessions that focus on proper technique, nutrition and injury prevention. The camp will help participants get familiarized with the Lake Tahoe course and provide specialized instruction on adjusting to the high altitude.
The camp also includes lunch for all three days, and a dinner hosted by Dave Scott.
Limited registration is now open for the first 25 participants at $595. Those participating in the camp can stay in The Village at Squaw Valley in a one-to-three bedroom condominium that includes a kitchen – which allows athletes to manage their nutrition.
