For the third consecutive year, Squaw Valley has been named the winner of the 2018 Readers’ Choice Poll for “Best Ski Resort.”
Out of the 20 resorts nominated by a panel of pro skiers and snowboarders, USA Today and 10Best announced that their readers again selected Squaw Valley as the winner.
“To be recognized as the ‘Best Ski Resort’ for the third consecutive year is something our entire Lake Tahoe community can be very proud,” said Andy Wirth, president of Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows. “We all have an inherent and genuine love for these legendary mountains and for our overall community. We are truly honored to be stewards of these great mountains and to receive this award.”
A panel of experts partnered with 10Best editors to pick the initial nominees, and the top 10 winners were determined by popular vote. Experts Wendy Clinch (TheSkiDiva.com) and Kristen Lummis (The Brave Ski Mom) were chosen based on their knowledge and experience of the North American ski scene.
Finishing second to Squaw Valley was Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah. No other Lake Tahoe ski resorts were among the top-10.
The host of the 1960 Winter Olympics, Squaw Valley “has only gotten better since,” according to USA Today. Squaw has 3,600 skiable acres, including 16 bowls, more than 170 trails and 29 lifts.
The resort’s terrain is terrific for not only extreme skiers and riders, but also beginners and intermediates. Squaw also boasts an annual average of 450 inches of snowfall and 300 sunny days.
