Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows Big Mountain Skiers and Snowboarders will represent the USA in the 2016 Freeride Junior World Championships in Grandvilara, Andorra this week.
Skiers Ross Tester, Bennet Drummond, Mia Winans and snowboarders Sam Shinkle and Dylan Zellers are five of the 15 skiers and snowboarders representing the USA. In total, there are 57 competitors representing 12 countries from Europe, North and South America and New Zealand gathering to celebrate the sport of freeriding.
The event will be held Thursday through Saturday on the Pic Alt Del Cubil in the Pyrenéen Mountains, a playground of natural features giving the riders a wide option of technical and playful lines and the possibility to express their unique style.
“We’re so excited that five of our expert skiers and riders are representing Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows in the Freeride Junior World Championships,” said Eric DesLauriers, Big Mountain Head Coach at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows. “This is a huge opportunity for members of our team to show off their skills and compete with other young experts around the world on great terrain.”

Big Mountain Team Recent Wins: Several skiers and riders from the team recently placed at the IFSA Snowbird National.
Turner Drummond had the highest scoring run of the day to qualify as number one in 12-14 Male Ski and Eric Bourke put two solid runs together to earn the bronze medal in 15-18 Male Ski.
Elena Silverman skied to a third-place finish in the 12-14 Ski Female division and George Skaff placed first in 12-14 Male Snowboard.
