A long-awaited first storm arrived over the Thanksgiving holiday and more snow is predicted for this week at Lake Tahoe ski resorts.
After mild days Sunday and Monday, featuring 40-degree temperatures during the day and overnight lows in the 20s, a storm is expected to descend on Lake Tahoe ski resorts by Tuesday afternoon. The Tuesday storm is expected to be light, according to Opensnow forecaster Bryan Allegretto.
However, a stronger storm with much heavier snowfall is expected to arrive Wednesday evening (Nov. 28) and continue through Thursday night. The storm could bring more than a foot of snow at Lake Tahoe ski resorts. There is also a chance of snow next weekend.

Kirkwood Mountain had a successful opening Saturday (Nov. 24), bringing the number of Lake Tahoe ski resorts that are open to six.
Kirkwood had some top-to-bottom skiing and riding, opening the Snowkirk and Solitude chairs and offering intermediate terrain on Lower Zachary, Lower Monte Wolfe, and Mokelumne. There was advanced terrain on Lower Olympic.
Heavenly reopens Sunday: The Tamarack lift was operating Sunday morning, to the delight of skiers and snowboarders.
Sugar Bowl update: After excitingly making the announcement of opening Nov. 24, Sugar Bowl made the decision to delay its opener due to weather. The projected opener is now Friday, Nov. 30.
With solid snow totals Wednesday and Thursday, Sugar Bowl bumped up its planned opener by six days. But those plans were ruined by a rainy Friday afternoon.
More terrain at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows: Gold Coast Express lift opened on Squaw Valley’s upper mountain, providing access to intermediate terrain and views of Lake Tahoe. At Alpine Meadows, Nick’s Run opened for more intermediate terrain off of Kangaroo chair.
