Bear Mountain has been pushing the progression of skiing and snowboarding since its inception 75 years ago. The Southern California ski resort had the first tow ropes for its inaugural season in 1943, Fast forward more than seven decades and Bear Mountain is known for its groundbreaking terrain park setup.
Nestled in the heart of the San Bernardino National Forest, Bear Mountain is a short, scenic drive from most locations in Southern California – approximately 1½ to 3 hours from Los Angeles, Orange County or San Diego.
The family-friendly resort is comprised of three main peaks: Bear Peak, Silver Mountain, and Goldmine Mountain. Bear Peak’s 8,805 feet summit is Southern California’s highest peak served by a ski lift.
Bear Mountain helped popularize freestyle skiing and snowboarding with its establishment of the first freestyle park in the early 1990s. Olympic Gold Medalist Shaun White frequented Bear Mountain while he was young, although he later spent most of his time on the Snow Summit Westridge freestyle run.
As part of the birthday celebration, Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) will also be on-site for a Shred the Love fundraiser. Skiers and snowboarders of all ages and abilities are encouraged to sign up for Shred the Love’s “lap-a-thon” to see how many laps can be completed in an hour.
The party atmosphere will include live music, raffles, silent auctions and more throughout the day. There will also be lift ticket and season pass giveaways.
