The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe, located mid-mountain at Northstar California Resort, has revealed plans for the construction of a new lakefront project, Lake Club – The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe.
Designed by renowned local architect Clare Walton for the exclusive use of the resort’s guests, the Lake Club will introduce an exceptional level of luxury service and amenities to the North Shore of Tahoe. An elegant, multi-level dining and bar facility with panoramic views of the lake, the Lake Club will also allow guests to access an expansive lawn that extends to the water’s edge, direct beach across, and an adjacent private boat pier offering a myriad of summer recreational activities and water sports.
With one of the world’s most beautiful lakes as its backdrop, the Lake Club has been designed to optimize its unprecedented proximity to the water’s edge, minimizing the distinction between indoors and out with generous use of floor-to-ceiling glass, allowing visitors a preview of the breathtaking views that await them before they even enter the front door.
The Lake Club will be located at 7170 North Lake Blvd in Tahoe Vista, Calif. Construction began June 8, 2016. The Lake Club will be available to guests in the summer of 2017.
“The launch of the Lake Club will provide our guests with luxury amenities and private access to Lake Tahoe along with limitless summer recreational activities,” said Joseph Mattioli, general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe. “The addition of the Lake Club will allow The Ritz-Carlton to offer a one-of-a-kind luxury resort experience, one that includes both direct access to the mountain and to the lake, a first for the Lake Tahoe region.”
Large sliding glass panels on the lake-facing rear terrace further reinforce the indoor/outdoor theme and facilitate an easy flow between interior and exterior gathering places. The project makes artful use of organic materials such as stone and cedar provides a warm, welcoming and sophisticated counterbalance to the clean contemporary lines of the steel and glass structure.
A glass enclosed external staircase adjacent to the main entry connects to a roof-top dining terrace replete with outdoor fireplace, while on the main terrace guests can gather around the expansive fire pit to take in the spectacular views.
Lake Club will feature:
- A contemporary building with a 650 square-foot indoor gathering area and bar; 600 square-foot ground-floor dining terrace, a 950 square-foot upper-level dining deck and 2,000 square-foot expansive lawn area with panoramic views of the lake.
- Direct beach access to Lake Tahoe
- Private boat pier with buoys to launch water sports and recreational activities including· boating, kayaking and stand-up paddle boards. Activities will be provided by Tahoe Adventure Company and Action Water Sports Tahoe Vista, offering wave runners, luxury boat rentals, parasailing, waterskiing, wake surfing, charter fishing, and Formula yacht and sailing charters on the Sierra Cloud. Guests will also be able to experience Wild Goose II, a renowned 36-foot hand crafted wooden boat plying the waters of Lake Tahoe.
- An outdoor whirlpool, fire pit and barbeque.
- Modern showers and changing facilities.
- Storage facilities to house kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, etc.
“Our intention is to create a space that complements the rugged landscape with a clean, modern aesthetic,” said Clare Walton, principal architect of Tahoe City-based Walton Architecture + Engineering. “The transparency of our design allows guests to connect immediately with the setting and flow seamlessly between interior and exterior social gathering spaces.”
