More snow dumped Saturday at Tahoe ski resorts, creating difficult conditions, from driving to visibility on the mountain.
But the challenging conditions will not be around Sunday (Dec. 15). The constant snowfall has stopped, the roads are far less hazardous, and most importantly, Tahoe ski resorts are delivering a powder day.
“This storm has delivered the goods. Get excited to enjoy the fresh new powder,” a message on the Diamond Peak website stated. “More snow and expanded terrain!”
Like all Tahoe ski resorts, the 14 inches of new snow that was delivered to Diamond Peak by Sunday morning, means great skiing and riding, plus more terrain. The scenic ski resort in Incline Village says it opened Penguin, Dusty’s, Chute, Powder and Luggi’s on Saturday.

Benefitting from three bigtime days of snowfall, Palisades Tahoe has added the most snow among Tahoe ski resorts during the series of storms. Sugar Bowl has also been hit hard by the series of storms, getting 40 inches the past three days, including 17 inches from Saturday’s heavy snowfall.
“Sunday looks to be a classic Tahoe Pow day, with clearing skies and plenty of fresh snow,” says a message on the Sugar Bowl website.
Family-focused Tahoe Donner, the last Tahoe ski resort to open (Dec. 13) for the 2024-25 season, has enjoyed two consecutive days of big snow totals. The resort received the most one-day snow total Saturday with 18 inches. It got a foot of snow from Friday’s storm and its three-day total is exactly 3 feet (36 inches).
There was rejoicing Sunday morning at Heavenly, where a foot of new snow awaited skiers and riders. The 12 inches exceeded the South Lake Tahoe resort’s previous two days of just 7 inches.
Tahoe ski resorts are experiencing better than average conditions for this time of year. According to Onthesnow.com, the snowpack levels across Lake Tahoe are currently 96% of normal. Lake Tahoe’s annual average snowfall total is 283 inches.
