Northstar California will transform into a biking and hiking location. The popular Bike & Hike Park opened Friday (May 22).
With good mountain bike coaches and a wealth of training programs, Northstar California provides a great intro to mountain biking for beginners as well as skill-building lessons for more advanced riders. In addition to mountain biking, Northstar invites guests to explore the mountain and enjoy The Village offerings.
“The entire mountain changes with the seasons here at Northstar,” said Andy Buckley, director of skier services. “It’s fun to see the transformation of the atmosphere when families trade in the skis and snow for bikes and dirt, smiling ear-to-ear after a day of adventure.”
Northstar is located on Highway 267, just six miles north of Lake Tahoe and six miles south of downtown Truckee. The Bike Park at Northstar California is renowned for its rugged, varied terrain which accommodates a variety of prestigious races and competitions on the mountain.
The Free-Ride Unlimited Pass is again available for summer 2015 for $349 for a limited time, which includes unlimited summer mountain bike access to Lake Tahoe’s Northstar California and Kirkwood Mountain Resort, as well as Vail Mountain and Keystone Resort in Colorado, and Canyons in Park City, Utah.
Additionally, pass holders will receive five Bike-with-a-Friend discounted tickets, each valid for a day of riding at the five mountains.
Below are three summer events.

Pumps on Pedals & Workshop Weekend
Pumps on Pedals will be hosted for a second season at Northstar California, taking place each Friday evening June 26 through September 4. Ladies of all skill and experience levels can take to the trails alongside other women riders, led by Northstar’s team of female coaches where they can hone their skills in a supportive and motivational environment, learning about equipment and technique, and unwinding together afterward in The Village at Northstar.
The Pumps on Pedals Workshop Weekend will be hosted at Northstar from August 15 – 16. The workshop offers women two full days of coaching that should help take their mountain biking technique to the next level. The event includes breakfast and lunch on each day, coaching and much more. Tickets are available for $389 through Memorial Day, and $419 after May 25.
