Mt. Rose ski resort in Nevada has received so much snow of late that it already has almost 80 percent of its terrain open. Skiers and snowboarders can ski and ride top-to-bottom on 1,440 vertical feet as the Lake Tahoe-area ski resort makes itself available for people ready to make the first turns of the season over the holidays.
This week’s winter storm produced 14 inches of new snow at Mt. Rose ski resort, and consistently cold overnight temperatures have allowed the resort to continue to run its snowmaking system and open additional terrain.
“Mt. Rose has continued to receive snow throughout the week, allowing us to open additional terrain and provide our guests with access to incredible early season conditions including some of the best snow coverage and most open terrain in the region,” said Mike Pierce, director of marketing at Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe. “These storms have provided us with a solid base that is ideal as we gear up to welcome holiday visitors over the next several weeks.”
The National Weather Service forecast calls for a system to move in Friday with the next chance for snow before clearing is expected through the holidays.
Located off Mt. Rose Highway in Nevada, Mt. Rose ski resort can boast Lake Tahoe’s highest base elevation at 8,260 feet ensuring supreme snow conditions even on the warmest spring days and the resort’s 1,200 acres feature an ample variety of runs ideal for every level of skier & snowboarder.
The resort is open daily for the winter season from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and with new dynamic lift ticketing this season, the farther in advance lift tickets are purchased, the bigger the savings. Mt. On Saturday, December 20, the resort will host a Rail Jam at 11 a.m. The event consists of a jam format, with prizes to be awarded to top finishers. Registration will take place the day of at the info counter in the Main Lodge. Complimentary entry is offered to season passholders; lift ticket holders can enter for $20 (or with a lift ticket from skiing that day). Helmets are required to participate.
