One more ski resort in the Lake Tahoe region will be running its lifts on Thanksgiving Day – Mt.Rose ski resort.
The popular destination for Reno skiers, Mt. Rose ski resort will open today (Nov. 27) for the 2013-14 season. The recent change in the weather has allowed the resort’s snow-making crew to make snow around
the clock.
Available lifts, ticket prices
Mt.Rose is expected to be running the Ponderosa lift and the Flying Jenny beginner area at 9 a.m. for skiing and snowboarding. The Ponderosa trail will be available.
Mt.Rose is offering a very good adult lift ticket price – $49 – through Dec. 20. The price rises to $84 on Dec. 21.
Once the snow level increases, Mt. Rose plans to open the Kit Carson Bowl and then to the top of the mountain.
Park at the Main Lodge.
Mt.Rose, located on Mt Rose Highway, 22 miles from Reno, will offer parking at the main lodge area due to early-season conditions. All of a sudden, winter appears to have arrived in Lake Tahoe and the ski season is definitely operating a full-speed ahead.
Squaw Valley also opens today
Squaw Valley will also open today That makes six Lake Tahoe ski resorts that will be open for Thanksgiving.

Squaw will have six lifts operating
Squaw Valley will open with six lifts for skiing and snowboarding, as well as offering snow tubing, scenic aerial tram rides, ice skating, shopping, and dining.
The North Tahoe resort recently received 10 inches of snow, and snowmaking efforts have been underway since before Halloween.
“Our snowmaking and grooming teams have done an amazing job getting the mountain ready to open,” said Mike Livak, executive vice president of Squaw Valley Ski Holdings. “The snow conditions are incredible, and we are thrilled to offer skiing on the upper mountain for opening day, along with so many great family activities.”
Terrain and activities for Opening Day
Starting Nov. 27, skiers and riders can take Squaw’s Funitel up the mountain to ski and snowboard down Gold Coast. Downloading will be required on the Funitel. The ARC at Gold Coast will also be open for lunch and drinks.
Squaw lift ticket pricing
Squaw Valley will be starting the season off with discounted lift tickets. Adults can ski all day for $76, youth and seniors for $65, super seniors for $40 and kids 12 and under for $40.
