A series of snow storms has been wonderful news for Mt. Rose ski resort, which continues to open new terrain, just in time for weekend skiing and snowboarding.
Mt. Rose reported that this week’s winter storm produced over 21 inches of new snow, allowing the resort to open additional lifts and terrain, including the Northwest Magnum 6 chair providing access to the top of the mountain for the first time this season.
The resort announced it will also open the Slide Bowl side of the resort. The Blazing Zephyr 6 lift began turning mid-morning today, offering access to select trails in the Slide Bowl, and allowing Mt. Rose to offer guests the opportunity to ski and snowboard the majority of the mountain, with current snow depths at the base area between 15 and 27 inches.
“Thanks to Mother Nature and Tahoe’s highest base elevation, Mt. Rose has seen nothing but snow all week. This storm has been the good old-fashioned Sierra storm we’ve been waiting for,” said Mike Pierce, director of marketing at Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe.”
Mt. Rose, located off Mt. Rose Highway in Nevada, kicked off its Night Rail Jam series today, and is also scheduled for Dec. 12 and Dec. 19. These events will consist of a jam format, with per-event and event series prizes to be awarded to the top finishers.
Registration will take place the day of each event at the info counter in the Main Lodge. Complimentary entry is offered to season passholders; lift ticket holders can enter for $20 (or with a lift ticket from skiing that day). Helmets are required to participate.
In celebration of the early season snowfall, Mt. Rose also kicked off a six-day flash sale on season passes, with prices starting at just $379 through December 8. New this season, snowsports enthusiasts are invited to ski today and pay tomorrow with the resort’s season pass payment plan.
Following an initial payment due at the time of purchase, passes are paid for in four easy installments. All products, including lift tickets, season passes and lesson packages are available for purchase online at www.skirose.com.
The resort is open daily for the winter season from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and with new dynamic lift ticketing this season, the farther in advance lift tickets are purchased, the bigger the savings.
