Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe will host a job fair from 2-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno. The resort is seeking energetic, enthusiastic team players focused on helping resort guests to have an incredible experience when they visit Mt. Rose.
Part and full-time seasonal positions include lift attendants, ski and snowboard instructors, rental shop attendants, food and beverage, bartenders, cocktail servers, janitorial, parking attendants, and ticket agents. Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe is also looking for Team Falcons coaches, ski patrollers, as well as operators experienced at snow grooming and snow removal. Not all positions require candidates to ski or snowboard.
“People say that if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life. Mt. Rose is looking for candidates who enjoy working in a team environment and have a strong commitment to customer service,” said Mike Pierce, director of marketing for Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe. “Helping our guests to create incredible memories with their family and friends is not only rewarding, it’s fun! We look forward to welcoming new members to our team.”
The resort began accepting online applications for part-time and full-time seasonal positions on Oct. 1. Candidates planning to attend the job fair are encouraged to complete an application online in advance, as well as bring a copy of their resume to the event.
Effective September 1, 2015, Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe instituted a wage increase that brought its minimum wage for all positions to $11 per hour. The increase represents a 33-percent increase over the standard $8.25 an hour mandated minimum wage in Nevada and affected employees in nearly all departments at the resort. Mt. Rose’s increase puts its entry wage $2.75 above the $8.25 per hour mandated minimum wage in Nevada, and $2 over the mandated $9 minimum wage in California.
“We intend to provide our guests with a high quality experience every time they visit Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe. This wage increase will help us to both remain competitive as an employer, and attract and retain top talent across a variety of positions both on snow and in departments that regularly interact with our guests,” Pierce continued.
The wage increase reflects just one of the many perks offered to Mt. Rose employees. A job at the mountain also includes complimentary skiing and snowboarding, free lessons and equipment rentals, significant discounts on retail items and at resort food outlets. These components add to the unique allure of this local resort, and frequent parties and employee functions reinforce the underlying team spirit that brings returning staff back to Mt. Rose year after year.
Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe is planning for its earliest opening on record, with the winter 2015-16 season scheduled to begin Oct. 29, weather and conditions permitting. For more information, visit www.skirose.com.
