Although the wet weather is producing more rain than snow in the Lake Tahoe region, Heavenly Mountain ski resort is adding to its available terrain today, increasing to 128 acres for skiing and snowboarding.
This morning Heavenly ski resort in South Lake Tahoe began operating Stagecoach Chair and the base area. Stagecoach provides immediate access to intermediate terrain on the Nevada side of the mountain, allowing an easy entrance point that is a popular area for nearby Carson Valley skiers and riders.
The Tahoe weather today is a mix of rain and snow with temperatures in the low 40s with a fair amount of wind. The snow is expected to take place at 8,500 feet and above. This evening the snow level could drop to 6,500 feet.
Skiers and snowboarders now have access to the following lifts at Heavenly Mountain – Stagecoach, Comet, Dipper, Tamarack Express, The Village Gondola, Big Easy, Tubing Lift, Red Fir Mitey Mite, and Bear Cave Carpet.
On Friday, Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Area and Homewood Mountain both opened for the season. Tahoe Donner’s three additional winter venues – Cross Country Ski Area, Snowplay, and Winter Golf Academy at Tahoe Donner Golf Course – had previously opened.
