After no meaningful days of snowfall for nearly seven weeks in 2022, Tahoe ski resorts received two days of snow this week.
There were 12 Tahoe ski resorts that received between 11-22 inches of snow from this week’s storm that hit the region Monday night and continued into Tuesday evening.

Homewood Mountain received the most snow from the two days, getting 22 inches, including 19 by Tuesday morning.
Kirkwood Mountain also received lots of snow, 21 inches over the two days, including 14 inches that was reported Wednesday morning (Feb. 23).
In South Lake Tahoe, Heavenly Mountain got 12 inches Tuesday and another 8 inches Wednesday for a two-day total of 20 inches.
The snow was an extremely welcome sight. After getting bombarded with snow the last two weeks of December to kick-start the season, Tahoe ski resorts received practically no snow prior to this latest storm.
“Happy Wednesday! If you’re trying to enjoy the fresh powder, today is the day to take a sick day from work,” a statement on the Homewood website stated. “With the 22 inches, we have received from this storm, and the low temps overnight we’re expecting the conditions to be just as good as they were yesterday.”
WEATHER FORECAST: The downside to the snow is the cold weather. Wednesday is another day to dress warm, with high temperatures in the teens and mid-20s with a light wind.
A couple days of powder skiing was certainly welcome by area skiers and riders. However, the downside for the next few days is the temperatures are very cold for Tahoe ski resorts.
RECORD DECEMBER, FOLLOWED BY DROUGHT: With three days left in December 2021, Lake Tahoe’s snowfall record had already been shattered.
The new total was 202 inches, according to the Central Sierra Snow Lab, which does its regular measurements at its Soda Springs location on Donner Summit.
The previous Tahoe snowfall record was 179 inches, set in 1970.
