Lake Tahoe ski resorts continue to prosper, piling up snow after two storms hit the region in a four-day stretch. All 15 of Tahoe’s downhill ski resorts are currently open.
Following a storm last Thursday that dumped up to 2 feet of snow, another storm hit the region Sunday, bringing more than a foot of snow to higher elevations, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
Located at Donner Summit, Sugar Bowl Resort benefitted most of the latest storm. Monday morning the resort was reporting 24 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours.
Both storms have built off smaller ones in November and early December to bring the season snowfall total at Lake Tahoe ski resorts above 100 inches.
More snow is in the forecast this weekend, although it’s too early to predict just how much. Temperatures have dropped and it should be a cold week. The temperature in Truckee on Tuesday morning is expected to be zero degrees.
