Most ski resorts in the U.S. have been closed for more than a month. However, Squaw Valley ski resort in Lake Tahoe remains open, closing for good on Memorial Day.
The scenic Lake Tahoe resort is experiencing its longest ski season in a decade. Although neighboring Alpine Meadows ski resort closed earlier this month, Squaw Valley remains open and received several inches of new snow one week ago. Squaw is operating its tram, Funitel and three upper lifts Sunday and Monday.
$19 Lift Ticket Deals through Memorial Day Weekend: With over 40 feet of cumulative snowfall this season, the resort is offering free skiing and riding for 2016-17 Tahoe Super Passholders. As an added May bonus, friends of 2015-16 or 2016-17 season passholders can purchase a lift ticket for just $19, limited to one per passholder. Passholders from another resort can also enjoy a $19 lift ticket deal.
Squaw chairlifts operate from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily, with the High Camp area and Aerial Tram open daily 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
May Madness High Camp Hot Tub Parties: There will be a party atmosphere Memorial Day Weekend at High Camp (located at 8,200 feet). It’s a breathtaking place to kick off your boots after a day of spring skiing or riding and unwind on the top of the mountain. High Camp features a hot tub, bar, restaurant, and music from local DJs.
Made In Tahoe Festival – Memorial Day Weekend: This event celebrates all things local and hosts a wide array of offerings that are made in or inspired by the Lake Tahoe basin and Truckee areas. Local artisans, businesses, culinarians, organizations and entertainers will come together to celebrate music, food, clothing, and more.
