Another Lake Tahoe ski resort – Kirkwood Mountain – is offering top-to-bottom access this weekend for skiers and snowboarders.
This morning, Kirkwood Mountain Resort began operating the Cornice Express (#6) and is now has expanded its terrain to 348 skiable acres for skiers and riders. Cornice Express provides access to top-to-bottom skiing and riding on some of Kirkwood’s most popular runs.
Kirkwood is located along scenic Highway 88 near South Lake Tahoe.
“Cornice Express is the artery of Kirkwood, we are thrilled to be opening the iconic Chair 6 this weekend,” said Doug Pierini, general manager of Kirkwood Mountain Resort. “It’s an excellent start to the season and with the natural snowfall we have received, combined with snowmaking. We are set up with great conditions as we roll into the holidays.”
With more snow in the forecast late next week and the current cold temperatures allowing for productive snowmaking, Kirkwood and many other Lake Tahoe ski resorts are expected to continue opening additional terrain throughout December.
Skiers and snowboarders at Kirkwood now have access to the following lifts:
- Cornice Express (#6)
- Solitude (#5)
- The Reut (#11)
- Snowkirk (#1)
- Tow 8
As a safety reminder, skiers and riders are reminded that they must observe all posted signs and closures, especially during the early season. Closed trails may contain hazards due to early snow coverage.
