Snow accumulation has been rare lately, but Lake Tahoe ski resorts got a little more than expected from a storm that arrived Sunday evening.
Many Lake Tahoe ski resorts awoke Monday morning to find a substantial amount of snow on the mountain. Among the resorts to receive a significant amount was Kirkwood Mountain, which had 10 inches of new snow.
Besides Kirkwood, two other Vail Resorts in Lake Tahoe also received snow overnight. Northstar California was reporting 5 inches of new snow and on Lake Tahoe’s south shore, Heavenly Mountain had 3 inches.
In Truckee, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows was delighted to accumulate 6 inches of snow from the latest storm to hit the Lake Tahoe region. The two combined resorts are reporting they have 33 lifts, 105 runs and three terrain parks.
The 9th annual Kid-O-Rama festival returns to Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows through Saturday, Feb. 24. This kid-focused, family fun event features live family-friendly music, complimentary treats, a daily game and craft room, skiing and riding for a good cause and more.
Disco Tubing will make its Kid-O-Rama debut this year, where evening snow tubing comes alive with colorful lights, lasers and live music. The full schedule of events is available online here.
Located off Interstate 80, Boreal Mountain was happily enjoying a powder day with 8 inches in the past 24 hours. Nearby Sugar Bowl received 5 inches, while Soda Springs got 8 inches.
Monday’s weather was expected to be a light dusting up to inch or two of snow today at best.
