The Jaguar 2019 Jaguar F-Pace has some unique qualities, but there’s one quality most people would not expect.
It’s a sport utility vehicle that has two fuel-efficient diesel engines – that’s right, diesel engines. The base model four-cylinder offers a diesel option and so does the S model trim that features a supercharged 3.0-liter, V6.
The broad range of performance options makes the F-Pace more appealing to a larger group of SUV shoppers. And that’s important in the very popular luxury five-passenger, compact SUV class.
Jaguar is hoping the F-Pace rebounds from sluggish sales last year. After sales of nearly 19,000 in 2017, the F-Pace dipped to 14,752 vehicles sold in 2018. The F-Pace competition includes the BMW X3, Lexus NX, Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class and Porsche Macan.
Jaguar is hoping the off-road capability could also give the Jaguar an edge on the competition. The F-Pace, an SUV that can haul up to 5,291 pounds, can take on gravel and rocky surfaces, thanks to its all-wheel-drive system and decent ground clearance of 8.4 inches. The All-Surface Progress Control includes hill descent.
For 2019, Jaguar debuts the F-Pace SVR that has an ample supply of power. The engine is a 5.0-liter, V8 that generates 550 horsepower and 502 pound-feet. It reaches a top speed at 176 miles and goes 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds.
Another plus is the interior has upgraded materials that one expects from an upscale Jaguar.
The F-Pace also has two supercharged engines. A supercharger is an air compressor that increases the pressure or density of air supplied to the engine. Superchargers increase the power, but are not as fuel efficient. All F-Pace models have an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
Performance is highly regarded in the F-Pace and so is the handling. The SUV delivers a sporty rider and provides a real grip on tight, curvy roads. It also travels with poise and great control.
This is a Jaguar, which means it should come as no surprise that the F-Pace interior is classy. The cabin materials are of good quality and there’s lots to like overall. One of those plusses is the front seats are 10-way adjustable, so there’s no problem finding a true comfort level. For 2019, the F-Pace added several things to aid the driver, including lane keeping assist and automatic emergency braking.

Leg room is solid for both driver and front-seat occupant. In the second row, seating is suitable for three adults, not always the case among some midsize SUVs. There’s no third row, but the F-Pace has one of the largest cargo areas in the class. It measures 33.5 cubic feet and when the rear seats fold down flat to the floor the space expands to a cavernous 63.5 cubic feet.
A stylish-looking SUV, the 2019 Jaguar F-Pace has a good all-around appeal. The performance options are truly diverse and there are other fine qualities that make this Jaguar one to check out.
