This is a day to savor for local skiers and snowboarders who love making some turns at their neighborhood ski resort – Homewood Mountain Resort.
Homewood ski resort will kick off open 2014-15 ski season Saturday (Dec. 20) for skiing and snowboarding with limited, intermediate and advanced-level terrain on the upper mountain, as well as beginner slopes at the Children’s Center and North Lodge Magic Carpet surface lifts.
Recent storms have blanketed Homewood’s upper mountain; however, early-season conditions exist, and terrain accessible via the Old Homewood Express chair will be open for intermediate to advanced skiers and riders only. The Madden Triple Chair will be spinning to transport and download skiers to and from the upper mountain.
At the base of the resort, Homewood’s Children’s Center at the South Lodge will be open and offering children’s ski and snowboard lessons. And at the North Lodge, Homewood’s Adult Ski & Snowboard School will teach first-timer Learn to Ski/Ride lessons at the Magic Carpet.
Homewood ski resort, which was founded in 1961, is accessible via Interstate 80 and is located off Highway 89, and is just 55 miles from Reno Tahoe International Airport.
Homewood ski resort’s snowmaking and mountain operations teams are working diligently to open additional terrain as conditions permit, and updates will be posted to Homewood’s website and social media accounts.
Homewood ski resort will offer discounted lift tickets both online and at the resort while the terrain available is limited. Full details and a map of expected terrain are available online at www.SkiHomewood.com
