It’s not a bad way to open the season for Homewood Resort in Lake Tahoe. Not only does the scenic ski resort have a good base, it also has received 15 inches of snow at the top of the mountain and 13 inches at the base after yesterday’s storm.
Homewood is now open today for the 2015-16 season and is offering top-to-bottom skiing and snowboarding. The Madden Chair and Old Homewood Express are taking skiers and riders up to the top, where the snow is deep and light thanks to the latest storm. Three surface lifts are also turning at the base area, serving beginners and Ski School.
The snow is still falling and is expected to continue through the morning, with another system following close behind on Saturday night into Sunday. Homewood could see another 12 to 18 inches before Monday morning – a perfect start to a much anticipated winter season.
“We couldn’t have asked for better opening day conditions,” Kevin Mitchell, General Manager of Homewood Resort said. “It’s winter wonderland out there. The first turns of the season are going to be great. Our crew has been working through the night and we are all excited to welcome our guests.”
More lifts and terrain will open as soon as conditions allow.
Currently, 14 of Lake Tahoe’s 15 ski resorts are open. All 15 will be open Saturday when Donner Ski Ranch begins running its lifts for the first time this season.
Located on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe, Homewood has been offering families a boutique winter experience since 1961. Homewood features amazing views of nearby Lake Tahoe and some of the best tree skiing in the area.
Homewood is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Adult and Children’s Ski School, Homewood Mountain Sports, and the Rental & Repair Shop will be open daily. Additionally, the 89 Bar & Grill and the Fireplace Tavern will be open for food and drinks. Additional services will open in time for the holidays.
Lift tickets are just $63 with the purchase of a 3-pack, which can be used any day all season long. Days do not need to be consecutive. The 3-Packs are non-transferable and non-refundable.
Season passes are also on sale, including the popular Family Pass which includes two adult and two teen/child season passes for $1,099. Season pass prices will increase on Dec. 18.
