Homewood Mountain Resort will join the club Friday (Dec. 15), offering skiing and snowboarding on opening day of the 2017-18 season.
The addition of Homewood and Granlibakken increases the number of Lake Tahoe ski resorts now open for the season to 12.
Kicking off the winter season on Lake Tahoe’s west shore, Homewood Mountain will begin daily operations Friday with limited terrain. Cold overnight temperatures over the past week have allowed snowmaking efforts to begin.
As snowmaking efforts continue when conditions permit, the resort will evaluate and open additional terrain.
Homewood plans to operate beginner lifts and terrain at the North base, including The Magic Carpet and Happy Platter from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“Thanks to the efforts of our snowmaking team, we’re excited to get the 2017-18 winter season underway. We will offer access to beginner terrain that is conveniently located just steps from our base lodge,” said Kevin Mitchell, general manager of Homewood Mountain Resort. “While we wait for winter storms to return, we’re enjoying comfortable daytime temperatures and will offer terrain suited just for beginners. This is the perfect time for those interested in learning to ski or snowboard to get on the mountain.”
The National Weather Service forecast is currently hinting at the next chance for snow by the middle of next week. In the meantime, Homewood will continue to make snow at every opportunity.
Resort services will be available in the North Lodge including rental equipment, retail and guest services from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The 89 Bar and Grill will also be open in the North Lodge from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. offering lunch items and a full bar.
Early season lift tickets will be available for $39 for all ages Sunday through Friday, and $49 on Saturday through December 22. For the remainder of the season, Homewood Mountain Resort offers the best value on lift tickets all season long, with prices starting at $49 per person, per day when purchased online in advance. In addition, kids ages 4 and under ski free all season long.
Ski and snowboard school lessons are available for both children and adults, with Homewood’s Learn to Ski/Ride 3-pack offering incredible value. For $69 per day, the adult package includes three half-day lessons, three full days of lift tickets and rental equipment. This offer is valid Sunday through Friday, non-holiday all season long. Tickets can be purchased online or at Homewood.
Children’s Lesson 3-Packs are also available for $133 per day for kids ages 4-12 and include three full days of lessons, equipment rentals and lift tickets. For both packages, days need not be consecutive, but must be used before the end of the 2017-18 winter season.
Granlibakken: The family-friendly resort on Tahoe’s West shore opened today for skiing and snowboarding.
