The Christmas holidays are creeping closer. And with the crowds beginning to gather this weekend in South Lake Tahoe, Heavenly Mountain Resort has decided to open additional terrain for skiing and snowboarding.
Heavenly ski resort opened the California side of the resort today (Dec. 21).
Among the new terrain available is:
- Ridge Run
- Patsy’s, Maggie’s
- Skyline Trail, Sky Chute
- Beginner areas of the Enchanted Forest and DMZ near the California Main Lodge.
With the opening of Skyline Trail and California Trail, Heavenly ski resort’s guests can ski and ride to and from the California side to the Nevada side and access top-to-bottom skiing and riding on the Nevada side.
Heavenly operating 19 lifts
With the California opening, the Heavenly ski resort is operating 19 lifts, accessing 17 trails and 13.5 miles of skiable terrain.
The Heavenly Ski and Ride School is offering both adult and children’s lessons out of the California Main Lodge.
“The storm that came through Thursday delivered 4 inches of quality natural snow along with really cold temperatures that allowed us to maximize the power of our massive snowmaking system,” said Pete Sonntag, vice president and chief operating officer of Heavenly. “That blast of natural and machine-made snow gets us the California side. Looking at the holidays starting next week, Heavenly is in a great position with its expanded terrain.”
Heavenly Celebrations
Heavenly ski resort’s holiday celebrations kick off this weekend with the first days of Heavenly Holidays.
These 12 festive days in the Heavenly Village will include Santa’s Workshop Snow Globe (Dec. 20-24, 2-7 p.m.), Ice Skating Spectacular (Dec. 28-30, 7:30 p.m.), Fear-No-Ice Sculpting Exhibitions (Dec. 28-30, 7:30 p.m.), and an all-in New Year’s Eve Celebration (Dec. 31, 6-9 p.m.).
