Some of Northern California’s finest young golfers will be seeing how their game holds up against a talented field of juniors at Greenhorn Creek Resort in Angels Camp.
The inaugural Calaveras Junior Open is set to make its debut at Greenhorn Creek Resort, with the first round to be competed on Monday, August 10. The 36-hole tournament, which is part of the Junior Golf Association of Northern California’s (JGANC) schedule, will conclude at nearby Saddle Creek Resort on Aug. 11.
“We’re excited to be hosting these talented junior golfers and offer them a chance to compete on a well-manicured layout that will certainly test every club in their bag,” said Allan Ramorini, Head Golf Professional at Greenhorn Creek.
The JGANC is a non-profit organization that was established in 1970. It continues to provide more than 100 competitive, affordable junior golf tournaments for boys and girls, ages 7 to 18 – locally, regionally and nationally.
Notable alumni of the JGANC who went on to play in the professional ranks include Scott McCarron, Matt Bettencourt, Sacramento golfers Kevin and David Sutherland, Johnny Miller, Julie Inkster and Paula Creamer.
A public golf course, Greenhorn Creek Resort is nestled among the rolling foothills of the Sierra Foothills, approximately two hours from the Bay Area and the Sacramento region. This picturesque track is an 18-hole championship golf course that was redesigned by Robert Trent Jones.
