Tahoe Donner is known for its accessible terrain that caters to beginners and intermediate skiers. It also offers an excellent cross country center, snowshoeing and snow play.
The downhill resort in Lake Tahoe features four lifts, a magic carpet, more than 17 trails, and 120 acres of terrain. Tahoe Donner has a base area at 6,200 feet and its summit resides at 8,000 feet. The mountain is small, but so are the crowds.
Family-friendly Tahoe Donner has affordable midweek downhill lift tickets that typically cost between $68 and $93. All season passholders also receive special discounts, perks and more.
The North Lake Tahoe ski resort is located at 11603 Snowpeak Way, roughly a seven-mile drive from the town center of Truckee. It reported 5 inches of new snow Sunday (Feb. 18) and 8 more inches by Monday morning.
For nearly 50 years, Tahoe Donner Downhill has provided families a unique and affordable ski experience. The terrain includes wide-open bowls, uncrowded slopes, gentle beginner terrain, and groomed runs.
Tahoe Donner prides itself on teaching young kids how to ski or snowboard, starting at age 3. The resort also has a program specifically designed for seniors aged 55 and above. It’s suggested to purchase a ski or snowboard package, which includes lift ticket lesson and rental equipment. Reservations are highly recommended for all lessons.

- February 24: Winter Carnival and Glowstick Parade, A children’s version of the torchlight parade. Watch hundreds of glowsticks float down Snowbird Run while music, games, and food/beverage specials are available at the lodge.
- March 10: I-Did-A-Run Sled Dog Race, benefits the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe and Snowfest 2024. Inspired by the world-famous Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race that takes place every year in March from Anchorage to Nome, Alaska.
- March 16: Winter Beach Party, a fun family day filled with tropical fun, live music, food specials, a snow sculpture contest, and games.
- March 17: Tahoe Donner Family Challenge is a matched-time ski competition for family teams. The winning team gets their name engraved on the trophy in the ski lodge.
- March 23: Banana Split Extravaganza. Grab a spoon and help devour 200 feet of a humongous banana split.
- Winter Music Series: Takes place at Pizza on the Hill through March 30.

- Every Thursday (5-8 pm): Edi Bōl Dinner Series, featuring a new bowl creation each week and sunset views at the Alder Creek Cafe.
- Every Sunday (5-7 pm): Trivia Night – test your group’s trivia skills while eating from the buffet-style menu each week at the Alder Creek Cafe.
- March 9: Hands On Wax Clinics – Roger Chaney provides instruction on learning how to wax skis.
- March 10: Adult Biathlon Clinic hosted by local professional athlete Gyongyver Ridenour, Jr. For ages 13-above. Reservations are recommended.
