Although the rain was heavy at times Saturday in the Sacramento region and its surrounding foothills, the snow totals were modest by Sunday morning for Tahoe ski resorts.
While Boreal Mountain was reporting 10 inches at its summit, Heavenly ski resort in South Lake Tahoe was reporting no new snow in the previous 24-hour period. However, six Tahoe ski resorts did get between 6-8 inches from Saturday’s storm.

WEATHER FORECAST: Fortunately, Sunday’s forecast should produce more snow for Tahoe skiers and riders. While daytime snow is expected to be light with winds generally between 20-25 mph, the snow intensity is expected to pick up in the evening hours, according to the National Weather Service.
Much heavier snow arrives late Sunday night and continues into Monday morning (Jan. 22). The storm could drop between 6-14 inches of snow on Tahoe ski resorts. Gusty winds are predicted for Monday’s forecast.
Palisades Tahoe, Sugar Bowl and Soda Springs were all reporting 8 inches of snow Sunday morning. Homewood got 7 inches and Tahoe Donner and Northstar California had 6.
