Waiting on the sidelines probably hasn’t been easy this ski season for Diamond Peak Ski Resort. The popular family-friendly resort in Incline Village has been anxious to kick off its 50th anniversary season, which will take place Thursday, Dec. 15.
Diamond Peak says it plans to offer top-to-bottom skiing and snowboarding (weather permitting) for its opener. When the mountain is totally open, skiers and boarders can experience 655 acres of beginner to expert-level terrain, including some of the best tree skiing in the Tahoe Basin
Recent cold temperatures have allowed Diamond Peak’s snowmaking team to blow acres of man-made snow along all of the resort’s signature runs, creating conditions for the kickoff to the resort’s 50th ski season. Diamond Peak expects to have a variety of advanced, intermediate and beginner terrain available, including Crystal Ridge, Lodgepole, School Yard and more.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome everybody back for our 50th anniversary season this winter,” said Diamond Peak General Manager Mike Bandelin. “It’s a special year for us and we have a lot of great events planned to celebrate this milestone. I hope to have the chance to talk to as many of the old timers and new members of the Diamond Peak family as possible this winter.”
50th Anniversary Kickoff & Season Passholder Party: To celebrate the launch of the anniversary season in style, Diamond Peak is throwing a party on Friday, Dec. 16 in the Base Lodge featuring a premiere of Local Freshies’ latest film “Tahoe: The Daily Routine.” It will be followed by 4frnt’s “Here and Now.”
The party begins in the Base Lodge as soon as the ski day is over, with free appetizers available for Diamond Peak season pass holders and available for purchase for the general public from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Pass holders will also have the chance to play Plinko for prizes and will receive free entry to the movie premieres. Non-pass holders are invited to join in the fun for a $5 entry fee. For full event details please see DiamondPeak.com/events.
