The 2016-17 ski season for Diamond Peak ski resort has been extended – thanks to Mother Nature.
The family-friendly Lake Tahoe ski resort points to a massive snowpack and the prospect of terrific spring skiing and snowboarding. Diamond Peak announced an extension of the season to Sunday, April 23.
To date, Diamond Peak has received 446 inches of snow this season. That far exceeds the average season of 300 inches.
“This has been an incredible season in Lake Tahoe, and especially here at Diamond Peak,” said Mike Bandelin, Diamond Peak general manager. “With all of the snow we have on the slopes and the enthusiasm we’re seeing from our customers – and especially our season pass holders – we’re happy to extend the season another week so that folks can enjoy these great conditions for a little bit longer.”
Earlier this month, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows announced it will be open through May and lifts will be running the Fourth of July. Mt. Rose says it will also be open in May and several other resorts ae extending their season into late April.
Heavenly Mountain pushed back its closing until April 30, while Northstar California, Sugar Bowl and Sierra-at-Tahoe will all remain open through April 23. Sierra will have an Appreciation day on April 24.
Coinciding with the extended season, the 2017-18 Diamond Peak season passes went on sale earlier this week at early-bird rates. All 2017-18 passes include spring access for the remainder of the newly-extended season.
Located in Incline Village in North Lake Tahoe, Diamond Peak’s early-bird season pass sale will run from through April 30, 2017, with values on both unrestricted and mid-week passes, as well as pass holder perks, including lift tickets at partner resorts throughout the West.
During the early-bird sale, unrestricted adult season passes will cost just $379 for the general public (or $289 for IVGID Picture Pass Holders). Unrestricted senior passes (ages 65-69) will cost just $159 (or $109 for IVGID Picture Pass Holders), while full-time college students (12+ units) and youth (ages 13-23) can buy unrestricted passes for just $219 (or $139 for IVGID Picture Pass Holders).
