Not that it needed one, but there’s one more premium golf course in the Lake Tahoe region – Clear Creek Tahoe.
Clear Creek Tahoe is considered an exclusive Bill Coore & Ben Crenshaw designed golf course near Lake Tahoe that is already earning considerable praise. Clear Creek Tahoe was recently recognized by Golfweek Magazine as the No. 18 Best Residential Course in America in its 2015 ratings.
The accolade reflects a private course now recognized as one of the nation’s top course designs. The only Coore & Crenshaw design in the Northern California/Nevada area, Clear Creek is just 20 minutes from Tahoe and nestled in the Sierra Nevada overlooking the Carson Valley.
Clear Creek Tahoe is a rivate golf community real estate project that is located just outside of Carson City, Nevada, on the east side of Lake Tahoe. It’s approximately a 25-minute drive from Stateline in South Lake Tahoe and less than 45 minutes from the Reno International airport.
The design is classic Coore & Crenshaw – a minimalist style that highlights the unique natural landscape. At Clear Creek that includes spectacular rock outcroppings, 360 degree views of the Sierra Nevada, and dramatic routing through forest lined fairways.
Combined with their signature ragged bunkering, lack of rough, undulating greens and natural areas, Coore & Crenshaw stamped their indelible imprint all while treating golfers to a memorable, walkable test.
“We entrusted Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, golf’s most respected architectural team, to discover a spectacular course – one that would look like it’s been here for years and that would appeal to generations of golfers to come,” said Jim Taylor, managing partner of Clear Creek. “Their genius exceeded all expectations for a truly special place to play.”
Bill Coore describes No. 17, the short downhill par 3 with a green of multiple targets mostly surrounded by sand, as “one of my finest.”
The 7,005-yard, par 71 course is set to open for the season May 1. Clear Creek Tahoe is currently planning the design of its new Clubhouse and adjoining Health and Wellness Campus to complement the golf and existing hiking trails throughout its 1,576 acres.
Additional news includes the announcement from Andrew Ward, general manager, that Bob Hickam has joined the club as head golf professional. Hickam is well known and highly regarded throughout the area with experience at the Tahoe Mountain Club and previously at Pebble Beach properties, Troon Golf Management, and as head golf professional at Tehama Club in Carmel.
“Our club, its members and future property owners will all benefit from Bob’s passion, background and experience,” s Ward aid. “We’re pleased to have him on our team.”
Over the winter, Clear Creek Tahoe also appointed Troy Denkler as restaurant manager to handle all dining and beverage operations.
“Troy brings an enviable record in the hospitality and restaurant industries,” Ward said. “A qualified sommelier, he’ll also bring his warm style of service to create a boutique style experience for our members and guests.”
