Want to help out pets in the Lake Tahoe area and also enjoy a fun day of tasty brews and Jazz? It’s all available at the two days of explosive musical talent at The Village at Squaw Valley on August 9-10 during the 13th Annual Brews, Jazz and Funk Fest.
Festival goers can listen to continuous live jazz and funk music on two stages while sampling more than 35 brews, including Ninkasi, Deschutes, Lagunitas, LostCoast, New Belgium, Deschutes, 21st Amendment, Firestone Walker, Auburn Alehouse and Out of Bounds Brewing Company.
A $5 entry donation to the festival is requested, with all proceeds benefitting the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe.
Headlining act Saturday is Monophonics, featuring special guest Ben L’Oncle Soul, who will light up the main stage with their “Psychedelic Soul” style of music. Big Sam’s Funky Nation, and Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe take to the main stage Sunday night with four hours of soulful, energetic jams.
The festival is open to all ages and well-behaved dogs on leashes. Kids can enjoy additional activities such as Squaw’s free croquet, bean bag toss and slacklines, crafting at Everything Hunky Dory, and a 18-hole miniature golf course – as well as mountaintop activities that include roller skating, rock climbing, swimming and hiking.
