Golf clubs on a ski resort? That’s right. It happens annually at Alpine Meadows ski resort, where this year’s Snow Golf Tournament takes places Saturday, April 12.
The 31st Snow Golf Tournament is a day of nine-hole golf at Alpine Meadows, located off Highway 89 in Lake Tahoe.
Recently featured on the Golf Channel, this highly anticipated spring event is the only mountaintop snow golf course around and offers the best of both worlds: skiing/riding and golf.
Participants start at the top of Alpine Meadows’ Summit Six chairlift and weave their way down a nine-hole golf course to the bottom of Alpine Bowl Chair.
Players are provided scorecards, pencils, clubs and tennis balls – in lieu of golf ball. All competitors are encouraged to dress up in their best golf attire, and must be wearing skis or a snowboard to navigate from hole to hole.
Participants can register for the event at the top of Summit chair, beginning at 9 a.m. on the day of the event. Snow Golf is free with a lift ticket or season pass.
Following the tournament, all scorecards will be entered into a raffle. Prizes include rounds of golf at The Resort at Squaw Creek and Granite Bay Golf Club near Roseville, a GoPro, Oakley goggles, Oakley sunglasses, Alpine swag and more.
The raffle takes place at 3 p.m. on the Sundeck.
