Looking to learn how to ski or snowboard? Palisades Tahoe has a deal that will put you on the right track with this fun winter sport.
Palisades Tahoe is launching the Learn to Ski and Ride Special this weekend (Dec. 9-10) that won’t put a large dent on one’s finances. The weekend at the famed Tahoe ski resort is specifically designed for first-time skiers and snowboarders and is offered to adults and children ages 3-above.
For just $109, skiers or riders get a 2½-hour half-day beginner lesson, rental equipment, and a limited beginner lift ticket. This offer is valid at all Adult and Kid Mountain Sports School locations on both the Palisades and Alpine side of the ski resort. Click here for more information and to register for a lesson online.
This Palisades Tahoe special only happens twice a year. The next time this program will be offered is April 6-7.
If you have a 2023-24 Ikon Pass, you can receive a 20% discount on Group Lessons from all of our Mountain Sports Schools. Use the code IKON20 at checkout. You must present a valid Ikon Pass on the day of the lesson.
EIGHT TAHOE SKI RESORTS OPEN: Despite the lack of snow thus far and limited overall terrain, there are eight Tahoe ski resorts open as of Dec. 1.
Both Sugar Bowl and Kirkwood opened for the season last Friday morning (Dec. 1). Kirkwood joined the two other Vail Resorts in Tahoe (Heavenly, Northstar California) that had previously opened for the season.
“We’re stoked to have seen so many smiling faces getting their early season turns in, especially after getting some new snow overnight just in time for the first day of the season. It was a blast welcoming all our guests back to the hill,” said Kirkwood spokesperson Ashlee Lambert said.
Mt. Rose, the first Tahoe ski resort to open this season, has perhaps the most available terrain. Located in Nevada near Incline Village, over the weekend the resort had four lifts and 10 runs operating thanks to running its artificial snow making operation since late October.
SIERRA-AT-TAHOE UPDATE: Due to a lack of suitable conditions, the resort off Highway 50 near South Lake Tahoe pushed back its planned opening last week. There is no new opening date as of Monday (Dec. 4).
“We are one good storm away from opening for the 2023-24 winter season, but will be postponing our tentatively scheduled (Dec. 2) opening until Mother Nature turns on the snow spigot,” a Sierra-at-Tahoe email stated.
