ANGELS CAMP, CA – Amateur golfers in Northern California will get an opportunity to compete in the Gold Channel Am Tour, which will take place at Greenhorn Creek Resort on July 12.
The Gold Country Championship, one of many tournaments on the Golf Channel Am Tour, will be competed at Greenhorn Creek Resort in Angels Camp. Whether an accomplished scratch player or beginner, the Golf Channel Am Tour offers 12 flights, including six senior flights, for men and women to play in a competitive format.
With more than 7,000 active members and 50 local tours, the Golf Channel Am Tour is the largest amateur golf tour in North America, conducting more than 700 stroke-play tournaments for all ages throughout the year.
Other tournament locations include at world-class venues such as Pinehurst, Kiawah Island, Chambers Bay, Bayonet & Blackhorse and TPC Sawgrass. Based on a year-around point’s system, golfers have a chance to play in the National and Senior National Championships at PGA West, La Quinta, in September.
“We are excited to have the Golf Channel Am Tour here at Greenhorn Creek to test a fun, yet challenging layout in the foothills of the Gold Country,” said Allan Ramorini, Head Golf Professional at Greenhorn Creek. “Our well-manicured golf course, thanks to the use of reclaimed water during California’s severe drought, will provide an enjoyable experience for players of all levels.”
Greenhorn Creek Resort is nestled among the rolling foothills of the Sierra Foothills, a two hours from the San Francisco Bay Area and the Sacramento region. This picturesque setting is home to an 18-hole championship golf course that was redesigned by Robert Trent Jones, Jr.
Entries for the 18-hole stroke-play Gold Country Championship are being accepted through Tuesday, July 7. The fee of $140 includes green fees, cart fees, range balls, awards, professional scoring, and prize fund. During check-in, players have the option to take part in a $20 skins game.
